GRANTS
The Minnesota Humanities Center provides cash grants and book grants to support educational and public humanities programs in specific settings. The Humanities Center is currently offering grants in the following areas:
Lifelong Learning Grants to support lifelong learning programs in greater Minnesota communities that do not receive financial support from other large educational institutions. At this time we are only accepting applications from last year's awardees seeking to renew funding.
Indigenous Language and Culture Grants support the efforts of indigenous language programs in Minnesota. The deadline for 2009 has passed, applications are no longer being accepted. Read Past Guidelines
Authors in Communities program introduces award-winning Minnesota authors, or Minnesota authors who represent "new literary voices," to schools and libraries in the communities of greater Minnesota.
Authors make two presentations during a visit to a rural community--one at an educational setting, and the other at a library or other public setting. Applications to participate in the Authors in Communities program are open to libraries within Minnesota communities outside of the 7-county metro area. These communities must have a population of under 14,000.
Supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Humanities Center's Authors in Communities program has hosted authors who include Will Weaver, Joe Amato, Lorna Landvik, and Anton Treuer. We are no longer accepting applications for Authors in Communities applications for 2009. Read Past Guidelines
